Adelaide, 02 May 2016- The ability for retailers to provide a unique and memorable shopping experience is becoming increasingly important in the current climate, according to recent research from CBRE.
CBRE’s Matt Willis, Large Format Retail, said that recent trends suggest designing an exceptional shopping experience contributes to customer retention and ultimately increases sales.
“To be successful in creating an ultimate and seamless shopping experience across multiple opportunities, the key is finding the most effective way to syndicate e-commerce with shopping in store, in a bid to create a connected retail experience,” Mr Willis said.
“Creating a unique shopping experience is becoming a significant factor in the success of retailers who are constantly trying to understand the changing needs and expectations of consumers.”
“We have seen Home Maker Centres in Adelaide, such as Mile End and Mt Barker, upgrade and include facilities in their centres such as bike racks and playgrounds, enhancing the consumers retail experience.”
CBRE’s Dallas Sears, Associate Director Retail Services, said that entertainment is also trending in the South Australian retail market.
”Years ago, shopping was about simply purchasing items that you needed or wanted and leaving the store as quickly as possible. Today’s consumers are far more sophisticated and more demanding with what entertains them. Consumers want more than simple bricks and mortar stocked with products. They want to enjoy their shopping experience. Centres and retailers that do this well attract the highest number of repeat patrons, which helps the retailers bottom line,” Ms Sears said.
Ms Sears recently introduced Latitude to the Greenacres Shopping Centre providing activity based entertainment for the whole family. She also negotiated Slingsby Theatre’s short term lease in Adelaide’s iconic Myer Centre, in conjunction with Adelaide Festival of Arts, bringing a sense of atmosphere and drama to one of SA’s busiest shopping Centres.
“We are certainly seeing increased enquiry from entertainment retailers here in South Australia who are looking to enter the market for the first time or expand their initial retail footprint in the state,” Ms Sears added.
